The 8 Show review *SPOILERS* and Theories

WARNING SPOILERS FOR THE SHOW “The 8 Show” This is a new show on Netflix(i'm not sure what countries right now but if you see it watch it its great). This show almost reminds me of “Squid Games” . Interestingly, the 2 shows both feature people in dept. I thought it was hilarious that all the supplies in the game were hyper inflated this somehow added a charm and comic relief to the show. The show seems to parallel a permanent social class dictated by floor height symbolizing the economic parts of society and an unnamed party of people who give the players more time(time in this show is equivalent to money) and rules that people follow symbolizing a government. The symbolism of the room they are in being fake child-like and plastic symbolizes a child's unwavering happiness along with a fake unreal world that fools people that they are in a paradise. All the base clothes they are all given are not even real they all have drawn on collars and bow ties along with their buttons for the shirts. The people even agree to only go by their floor names and not their birth names symbolizing serialization and depersonalization of the people around them removing everything unique about the players along with instilling a permanent social status to everyone early. The top floors became dictators to the lower floors and eventually got thrown out of power by the others in a sabotaged attack on the lower floors by Floor 7. This show is both a tragedy, psychological horror and drama. These themes are rare to make but somehow it worked wonderfly. Interestingly the higher floors started to disregard the rules of the game preventing people from dying in the game. What was wild about this show to me is that Floor 7(we are never given his name) was the writer of this entire show while discussing it with a publisher. The publisher said he loved how the top floors behaved in the series and he even goes as far to say that's how he got rich. Floor 8 had a penthouse room and the lower floors had to pay for all necessities like a toilet and a sleeping bag along with Floor 1 being stuck with all the trash the others made because they kept all the trash in the central dumbwaiter. Meanwhile she had a bed with silk sheets and nightgown. Floor 8 was foreshadowed to be an evil protagonist in the early stages of the series. Most of the time in the show classical music is played between events with few exceptions minus Floor 8’s shopping spree playing reggae-like music. Floor 8’s intro on the second episode showed her listening to a heavy metal like sound track. This is polar opposite to the music in the show. Symbolizing how philosophically opposite she is to the rest of the players. Most of the players wanted to work as a team and share resources but she believed in dictatorship and deprivation of resources away from lower floors. Floor 1’s story highlights an interesting under talked about problem with poverty. Floor 1 played the game with other people but he had the most expenses(not just monetary i mean that he sacrifices so much because he can't pay with money) in the game. Floor 8 had the most money but she did not have many expenses. She got all the food, water, and waste removal along with money to have fun. Meanwhile Floor 1 had no money so much trash in his room from the other rooms making an inhospitable living area. He even found loopholes in the game to try to get another room. But this backfired as these systems are historically designed to prevent intermingling of different statuses causing Floor 1 to lose all his money. This show is a great representation of the cruelest parts of the human psyche and social problems surrounding social hierarchies along with the unmatched determination people have to get their basic needs and a better life for themselves and their children even at the cost of death. Along with the slow burn building to people hitting their critical limits of anguish pushing them to behave outside their nature and social norms. For this series im still curious who the people watching in the cameras are along with who supplied the stuff they get in the dumbwaiter. I think Floor 8 may be one of the workers. I think she was purposely placed there to instigate the players she knew too much of how the game worked. She was the first to learn how to add time to the timer. I think it's possible that Floor 7 made this story as a true story of the publisher he talked to at the end highlighting his immorality and actions. My personal favorite theory is that these people are in the network of the “Squid games” universe and that they run co currently together. The Squid Games universe did confirm with their “Front man” that there were other locations, what if the series of events are connected to the shows. Thank you so much for reading this. It warms my heart that all of you read these goofy theories. I also make other apps and websites you can see this in the “More work by me” Page
