Review of Kei Nagai and Sato from the series Ajin

In the show “Ajin Demi human” is based on a premise of immortal gods possessing humans(Ajin) from birth allowing the humans to live their lives as they wish. However if these people die then their Ghost(also called IBM) brings them back to life regardless of the reasons for death reanimating their bodies and minds. The town becomes scared of the Ajin people and post bounties on them. The Ajin who are captured typically become science experiments. They are subjected to experiments of scientists(in many countries but the show only shows what happens in Japan) killing them gruesomely including gunshot, organ removal(no anesthesia), and various poisons. Kei Nagai is a senior in high school studying to go to college. Kei displays a very emotionally numb personality only expressing his feelings like twice in the series. Kei discovers he is an Ajin when he is hit by a large mac truck outside his house in front of his town and some of his classmates. Kei goes on the run to escape being a human lab rat. It’s made very clear in the series that Kei wants peace for his life. He believes that the world has disturbed his peace, even going as far as to imprison and attempt to kill someone who knew him when he finds a town to hide in. Kei was eventually tracked down and experimented on but was saved by Sato. However Kei tried to escape Sato because he did not believe in the elimination of the Government to gain his peace, Sato disagreed. Kei eventually joins a government agency to hide from experimentation along with stopping Sato. Sato is a man with a mysterious background. He is an Ajin that is the leader of a small militia that runs skirmishes as a protest against the Government of Japan to give Ajin human rights. Sato’s character is established early on to treat the world around him to love games and strategy. He is fueled by completing goals regardless of the logistical difficulties. Sato even makes his own army of Ajin by tracking them all down. One of his soldiers even asks him how he would get them his rights. Sato replies “alright a massacre” , establishing early that he would do anything to get what he wants. After Sato makes his army he broadcasts on local tv saying that he is requesting the Government give them rights and if they dont he would eliminate a list of Government officials. Eventually he killed off most of his list due to in-compliance. Both Kei and Sato desired peace in their lives but tried to get it in different ways. Sato believed that the only way to get his rights as an Ajin was through force and Kei thought it was best to run. In the end Sato was flattened under rubble in a perpetual death(or was he?). Kei got what he wanted because he had value to the government as a soldier(because it's very valuable if a soldier can't die). Sato demonstrated that Ajin Are a force no one in the series could handle, inevitably giving the Government no choice to give them their rights; however most of Sato’s army disowned him because of his radicalism. No group can survive if they don't work for the same thing. So the moral of the series seems to be that if you want people to help you show them what you can do to help them so they can help you. This series had an interesting premise. I loved the series despite the terrible animation.
