A great VR game you should play if you like VR games

Personally I love games that come up with a unique set of gameplay or a unique compelling story. I played a game called “Phantom Covert”. The story follows a secret agent on a mission on a small island and he needs to perform some spy work on the island. Before I start talking about the gameplay and the story of the game I need to address how different a VR game is than a console or pc game. In a game on pc or console the player can be invested in the story pretty much to the extent of a movie. However VR games can introduce a level of interactivity and involvement that console or pc games can not create. VR games force the user to experience things in game at a more first person level. The premise of this game is that The main character is a spy on an island. But there is a giant plot twist to the mission: he can not go into the enemy base on foot; he has to travel in a small kayak with various weapons and explosives throughout the entire base to gather information on their enemies plans. The player must silently paddle and strategically avoid enemies in the base, sometimes even fight them from the kayak. The player must also avoid various attack boats and enemies who have motor boats with flashlights and the player must act quickly to find a hiding place usually in tall water based plants. One of my favorite parts of the gameplay was the parts where the player had to avoid a helicopter watching the ground. Keep in mind in the game because its VR all of this is in front of you it creates a literal first person view of all of these events. The game has 3 main phases of the story. The first phase of the game starts with the player entering the base and gathering evidence with a camera and discovering that an enemy leader is alive and not KIA. At the end of the first phase the player tries to escape the island in a large 2 prop helicopter but the enemy destroys the helicopter so the player is forced to retreat to safety meanwhile he loses all of his weapons in the crash. In the start of the second phase he finds radio traffic of a mysterious agent. The player stealthily travels to the specified coordinates of the agent and he finds him. They team up to destroy large cannons of the base so they can be rescued. The player travels to the cannons to destroy them. In the third phase the player is hunting down the enemy leader and his top officials and soldiers. The game majestically ends with the player escaping the island towards battleships meanwhile the sun is coming up and helicopters fly past the player in the air. This game was incredibly suspenseful with a very rewarding gameplay. The worlds of the game are well built however the graphics were not the best likely because VR games are inherently a lot of processing so this is not the developers fault. The controls of the game were very fitting using actual maneuvers to control a kayak(I have used one in real life before). I thought the story was well written and timed well. I liked the side conversations from the guards in the game. I liked that the game strategically kept suspense and tension in the game by using the boats(keep in mind they would light the player up if spotted). I especially loved the hands off approach to the level progression. Every section the player had the choice of how to get to the next objective. Some games keep you in a well defined area with minimal options. I liked that the player had the choice to independently and freely pick how to progress in the game. Overall this game was fantastic.
